Founded in 1984 in Northern Rome, Welcome Neighbor is still the one totally free and easy going organisation open to English speaking expats in Rome, particularly those who choose to live in the Northern Rome area and who might have children attending the international schools located in this area, like St George’s, Marymount, St Dominique, the American Overseas School of Rome or Kendall.
Welcome Neighbor gives you a chance to make new friends and find out lots of information about doctors, dentist, stores and others services in your neighbourhood.
The Olgiata Welcome Neighbor covers the entire Olgiata area (Olgiata,Cesano, San Nicola, La Storta), La Giustiniana, Welcome Neighbor makes it easier for you to meet your neighbors as well as to find out about other International and local Associations in Rome. The first meeting is held in September and it is open to everyone and it is a chance to meet your Welcome Neighbor Coordinators and your neighbors. In November there is a Christmas Bazaar which is open to everyone and raises money for local projects organised by Vivi Vejo, a non profit Association founded in 2009 in Northern Rome to help improve the way of life of elderly and disabled people with particular attention to local schools. Vivi Vejo has taken the Welcome Neighbor groups under its wing in order to make it official and to give particular care to expat integration.
Once a week Italian conversation groups are held in the Olgiata area to help expats get acquainted with the language and everyday tasks and lots of volunteer opportunities are available from helping with ecological days and street clean ups, to teaching computer to the elderly, assisting blind people and serving on the Art and Literary and Art competitions.
